Save Energy

posted by constance

We had a shock last night when hubby said our electricity bill was so high. I suppose it could be because the new tariffs for the final quarter was reported to be an increase of 25% for however little amount you used due to the petrol hike 3 months ago. Electricity tariffs do not fluctuate as fast as they are being set on quarterly basis. The new rate will only be effective when we get the January bill so we have to bite the bullet for the meantime. The other reason that I think our bill is high is because of the air conditioning compressor of ours. As we have an older version that was intalled many years ago, it certainly is not optimized for energy saving. Perhaps we should look into those that our government had recommended to purchase. The ones that has energy saving feature.

Back-breaking task… comes with age?

posted by constance

Ouch Ouch Ouch!! My back really hurts and I feel sore all over. Been doing spring cleaning the whole day since yesterday since my desktop pc is now konked out for whatever reasons.

I had been organising my kids’ toys and cubby because they really have so much stuff. I decided to throw some stuff and give away some too. I have just started and it took me two days, and I have not gone upstairs to get started on the room that stores all the kids’ toys and clothes. I have lots of clothes they cannot wear anymore and I think I better give it to Salvation Army. I have a baby cot, pram, stroller, playpen, and lots and lots of baby clothes.. I know who I can pass it to if I were in Penang but i’m in Singapore and the cost of postage will kill me.

After the whole day of spring cleaning, I wished I had bought that Oto eBliss I saw in Suntec over the weekend. It was going at S$238 and I tried on it and felt soo good. Now my body and back is aching I wished I had it. My body is telling me I am OLD! I also tried the Hip Hugger, very spunky and stylish chair but I don’t think my home can fit any new furniture unless I get rid of some first.

Look at my kids trying out the eBliss the other day. They always ‘attack’ these massage systems whenever we go out… and also the gym workout equipment and the trampolines. I have the Osim Gallop and they love it. Its a treat for them when they behave…hahahaha

Mom Wants To Skate Too

posted by constance

The girls are having a great time with their inline skates. I can see it in their faces. I, too want to have a go at it. So, how does one get started? Perhaps I should just buy one first. Or wait for the end of the year end sale before Christmas. There should be some good sales then. I had spoken with my friend who is my age (she turned 40 first in January..lol) and she is also picking up roller blading. And she tells me how great it is. Perhaps before I fall down hard on my butt or something, I should get some funny t-shirts to wear? Something like “L Plate Blader” or “I’ll FALL OVER YOU if you don’t stop staring!” So let me go look for my blades first.

No Tweaking Of Phones

posted by constance

When iPhone first came out, everyone went ooh and aahh over it. Then many found out that to buy that, one can only use it if he or she is registered to the mobile subscriber that had the exclusive rights. That was a disappointment to me. I had hopes about using an iPhone when it first came out. Some say the phone had been tweaked so that you can actually use it with any subscriber. However, I feel that I’d rather buy those that they call unlocked cell phones, that can be used by any carrier and use any type of prepaid SIM cards. I don’t want someone tweaking my phone. It might alter the warranty agreement.

Handy Man Hubby

posted by constance

The door in the connecting bathroom upstairs is having some trouble at the hinges. I had to highlight it to the man of the house because he loves to tinker with building materials and thinks his toolbox is really complete. He was fixing some part of the door in the weekend when he asked me to grab some tools like a plier and few other things. He managed to fix it and told me that he is looking into getting some air tools for collection and I went blank. Gosh, I am so bad being handyman so I really have no idea what it was until he told me that they are similar to those electrical drills and device but air tools are generated by air pressure. Of course, I just nodded. After all, there is so much that I know.

LCD TV Buying Guide

posted by constance

Why do I get the feeling that I am the only one using an old fashioned television at home? I visited many friends in their homes and they all have spanking new LCD television sets. It has been around for years and some of my friend had bought their second or even third LCD television! As I have not bought one before, I do not really know the price range and recommended ones. It was until I found an LCD Television buying guide that has so much information about price, brands, sizes and recommendations.

I also found out from this site that Sony and Samsung both uses the same factory to produce their LCD screens! Most of the other brands use a third party manufacturer.  If you have a certain budget to spend you can read the recommendations on which is the better option in terms of value for money and quality for that price. I bet an LCD TV as large as 52 inches will be such an excellent piece for an audio visual room.

Getting Rid of Dusts

posted by constance

I haven’t used a vacuum cleaner for the past few years. I used an old traditional broom instead. However, I find that my elder daughter had been sneezing non stop lately. I think her nose is rather sensitive. Sometimes I see these fine particles of dusts in the air when the breeze blows in. The direction of the wind changes in different parts of the year. Now it is blowing from the north side of my apartment but I worry that it is bring the dust from the nearby construction area where a ramp is being built. I think I would like to check out stores to check out the Electrolux vacuums. These are what was recommended to me by my friend who has a daughter who is allergic to dust allergens and it worked like magic for her. I have always loved the products by Electrolux because of their streamlined and clean design. I also better check out other products that works for allergy sufferers like me.

Coffee Chat Everyday

posted by constance

I use Skype frequently when I need to communicate with family and friends in Australia, , UK, China and Malaysia. At present I use the wired headsets as the house can get quite noisy with the tv on most of the time. I envy my friend on the other side who has a wireless Bluetooth headset with her and she is able to walk around the house and do some chores while talking to me. She sometimes also places her laptop in the kitchen and I even get to watch her as she prepares dinner. Although she can be as far as in Australia, we have chats and coffee in the afternoon together often. It is so much fun and we don’t miss each other at all.

Uploading Pictures On My PC

posted by constance

I love to take photos using my handphone camera and my digital camera. However I have trouble uploading the pictures from handphone to my pc as it uses the micro sd memory card. I have been using the bluetooth connection but they are pretty slow and takes such a long time especially when it is a recorded video. I believe I will need to get a multi card adapter so that I can transfer the files quicker. The current card adapter I have only accepts limited memory card. My friend tells me that my handphone might have been bundled with a adapter but I’ve looked everywhere and I couldn’t find it. I’m sure I can buy one from memorysuppliers.com.

Hardy Case

posted by constance

When I was studying photography in school many years ago, I had problems trying to take shots at a certain angle. I dislike carrying too many things so I made sure my projects were more free form and natural and made sure that I knew where the direction of the sun was coming from and did my research a few days before hand. The only equipment I brought with me were my filters, telezooms as well as my tripod. As much as I could get my tripod to shoot at a height, most of the time I cannot view on it because I was too short. Did you know what I stood on? I relied a lot on my Zero Halliburton camera case because it was durable and could withstand my abuse.
