When A Holiday isn’t like One

posted by constance

Whenever I say the word – Holiday, everyone gets a positive mind and think about the luxury of time, the nice cosy hotel room and that nice lazy by the pool. Oh no, not this time. Right now, I am getting a different kind of holiday. A time off from work because the place is being renovated. Hence, I am not at the usual work place and it had been for the past one and a half months already. Two more weeks to go, I cannot wait to get back to the work. This two months of not being there is not good news to me. Because I am not being paid to take this holiday! That means, no income and I am broke. Two months would be a nice time for those with a thick wallet to go for a nice holiday and rest but not me. Two months is painful to have to spend without income. So forget thinking about those nice cao cigars and expensive red wine because I have to be extra careful with what I am paying out for, with the kids’ expenses coming into first priority. This is the kind of holiday I don’t wish for. But I can’t wait to get back to work.

Noisy Noisy Neighbour

posted by constance

I am having a splitting headache! The Noise is getting worst and worst. Forgive me, it’s not the neighbours but what they are doing, actually. My left neighbour had just completed the reno of rebuilding the corner terrace into his exclusive Vet clinic and now, my right neighbour is starting on theirs! Oh, everyday at 8am in the morning, all the banging and drilling starts and it gets louder, each day. I imagine all the different lengths of diamond blades they are using to cut all the granites, glasses, metals or any other hard hitting rocks. Oh I am not too sure how long I can take it any longer. Sometimes I can’t even think at all. And even turning up the volume of my TV didn’t help because the noise becomes even worst! I am going crazy.. when will it stop??

Chill Weather

posted by constance

Much to my own surprised, I am addicted to Taiwan hokkien dramas. There is nothing I would rather do nowadays than to sit and watch these dramas whenever I get my free time at home. Call me a couch potato, then.

These dramas, mind you are VERY long winded, and they go for longer than 100 episodes, with the current one that I am watching at episode 156 and still continuing. I’ve never really paid attention to Taiwan before, maybe because I had no exposure other than friends who came back from holidays, telling me about their fruits and scenic mountains and the boots they bought there.

But watching these dramas, I found out that the weather, which is far from icy Icelands and not hot like our humid Asian neighbours, they do have wet and drizzly days and chilly cold weather that made them put on all that nice, furry coats, thermal wears and all that flamboyant scarfs. That prompted me to search for nice coats at www.coatracks.com because suddenly winter coats became so fashionably interesting and cool. I suppose that is what happens when many friends I know became addicted to Korean dramas too. They suddenly became very interested in Korean food, cosmetics and their fashion sense also seemed to be inclined towards Korean. Do you also feel this way?
