Before I get really really busy, I think I should get some exercise to get myself really fit for health. I am getting my bicycle fixed, as one part of the chain looked like it is partically broken. I have started on playing Badminton with my kids to get them to go outdoors more often than to be on the pc whole day long. And what I really want to do for now is also to go for a hike at the Bukit Timah Hill, nearby. But first, where can I get a pair of Vasque Boots that are supposedly good for hiking? With the Great Singapore Sale on now, I wonder if I can get a pair at a good price? I am not into all that shopping so I am hoping I can get some tips from my friends if Vasque is available first.

My kids are too active. Simply because it is the start of the holidays. Usually at this time of the evening (3 mins to midnight), they would be already asleep. But tonight, I can still hear their laughter in the room while I am tapping on my keyboard! Guess the holidays wake them up. Girls, they are, perhaps I should be getting those full bunk beds for boys instead of individual sweet pink framed beds that I saw in the furniture catalog the other day. They are just as active! Oh, I guess I better get into the room and get them to tone down before my neighbours start knocking on my front door!
We visited the Singapore Expo today and because there are at least 4 halls filled with various exhibit activities, getting a car park lot is really difficult. Lucky for us we stopped the car and waited in one of the rows because if not for that, we won’t get a lot as many cars seemed to be going round and round in vain. Some people even parked in the lanes not meant for parking and the most irresponsible ones are those who park in the handicap car park lot. These lots are meant for cars who have the decal for members of their family who are handicapped. With the aging community, I wonder if malls will also include a wheelchair or a knee walker rental in future as I can see that these equipments are really very commonly used.
My girl attended her school concert just two days ago before the break of holiday starts. Her school has the tradition of having school concerts twice a year during the prize giving day. What is really amazing is how these kids are trained to be hosts for their concerts. With ease like they are old hand at compere jobs, they even know how to speak to the mic and not look like fresh green horns. I remember my school concerts whereby our hosts always have to use those large lollipop like microphones in the olden days and how they always had to do the ‘testing testing 1 2 3’ so many times and tap on the mic and causing so much screeching blasting at the audience. Oh and yes, in those days Sanyo radio was a popular brand used for the entertainment system and now, this brand is still in use, except that they have grown with the times and are not those wired ones but mini microphones that are wireless, just like the cute concert host used in the concert my daughter attended recently.
How old is your mattress? Mine is as old as 15 years. Although it was a special pocketed spring meant for those with a bad back, after this 15 years of usage, I feel like I am actually sleeping on top of the coils without any cushion support at all. Simply said, what I need now is to get a memory foam topper to be placed on top and I am sure I will get that sleeping on cloud feeling once more again. But on the other hand, perhaps I might just shop around for a new mattress and perhaps go for one of those trade ins of old mattress for a new one with a good discount. There are so many brands in the market, so which one should I go for then?
My heart skips a beat when I see photos like these. I took a shot of this kitchen while at the zoo trip two years back. Yes, the Singapore zoo has an educational sector where one can actually get to see what our parents have in the 50s, 60s and our own experience in the 70s. Have you been to a kitchen like the one in this pic? I also remember our first television which was slightly bigger than the rediffusion box. And when the colour tvs started, mom bought a colour TV at a whopping 3k. In the past they are big, bulky tv stands with mount than I am talking about. Yes with stands… I wish I have a photo of it.. perhaps I should dig my photo album for a pic of the old tv.
Whenever I come across personal blogs of teens, I find that many of them have very nice portrait photos of themselves and enjoy posting photos of themselves dressed in current fashion styles and trends. Then in one of the recent article, I read that many of them make themselves up and even go to great lengths of using Photoshop to enhance their look besides the physical make up. If you go to youtube, some of these teen girls even show you how they do it with a video. It is really amazing what makeup and Photoshop does to one.
In the olden days when we don’t have Photoshop, we used the airbrush machine to create wonders of art but now many artists in this era have never even seen the airbrush gun nor understand the skill artists need to handle the air flow and pressure when releasing ink. The only people who uses airbrush nowadays are those who ‘paints’ bikes and cars and tattooists at work, not the canvas artists anymore. I hope one day airbrush painting comes back into trend again.
My room is definitely too dark. I can’t see a thing if I were to draw the curtains. And if I don’t, my room may be visible from the outside and I like my privacy. Perhaps I should get wood blinds as they allow one to turn up the gap slightly and let in the natural light in as well as some fresh air from outside. I like wood because they look natural and goes well with my colour scheme in my room, as well as matches my chest boxes just below the window. I saw blinds that comes in three shades of woody brown in one of the interior design shop in the nearby mall and I really liked it. Perhaps I should asked if they know where I can get something similar.
It is that time again. Time where malls and shops are brimming with shoppers for the best discounts available. It’s called the Great Singapore Sale, of course. It always happens in May-June and coincides with food festival as well as the Arts’ festival too. But mostly you won’t catch me running around shopping for discounted buys since you can find better buys on the internet too. This is because most of the internet stores do not have such high overheads as well as overstock supplies to clear so you can almost get new items or products online at great discounts.
I don’t buy clothes online but I normally like to hunt online for various discount fragrance for gifts as these items don’t usually go out of fashion. I like fresh scents and they are great with most occasions. The other products I like shopping around are Japanese bento accessories as they usually have many cute stuffs in online stores, compared to brick and mortar shops here.
In the recent few weeks, I’ve been glued to my idiot box for hours till the wee hours. Even Ah Boy does it by hooking up on the earphones to avoid disturbing the rest of us if we had already slept. Why? Because we are hooked to Taiwan Hokkien Dramas. Mind you, these hokkien dramas aren’t for everybody. I don’t really understand it as I mutter or swear under my breath about the way these dramas are made… The storyline always baffles me. Their ignorance for details in the show are just as bad and their dramatic storyline this is so long-winded are totally something not everyone may have patience for. Yet, I am just addicted to it. They are quite conservative, actually with their at the most some kissing scenes. They also always shoot indoors more and concentrate on converstations. But these never ending dramas are really hitting on my weakness. And the current drama that I am addicted to, Lee’s Family Reunion, they always do paternity testing to check if who and who belongs to the father.. oh well, too many times. I’m amazed how the bad get away with so many bad things done and amazed how the police always never come to the picture.
So althought there are too many issues on why, why and why, I tell you, this show is really addictive. Oh yes. It gives me the chance to be exposed to Taiwan’s Hokkien… You should too. It’s educational.
