Community Programs

posted by constance

For the first time in 3 months, I stepped into the community club near home. I used to frequent the one near to my old home but since I have moved to this other town, I have yet to enter this community premise. In this one, there is a community library, the first one I have seen in a CC and there is also a post office which I brought my helper to, for her remittances. Different from the local government library NLB, this library is a small one, catered to children up to 12 years of age. I think it is a good idea to have a library because sometimes when the parents are busy attending the community courses, the children can read and relax in the library. A lady sits patiently at the counter and the library is operated via the old fashioned method, stamping dates on books for expiry dates. The children do not even need to bring a library card (they are not issued one) because all they need to do is just to write down the parent’s name or give the information to the librarian handling it. Very personalized, nothing fancy but very down to earth. A place for young kids reading and hanging out. Perhaps the next trip I can pack them that little mat in a yoga bag in case the place runs out of kiddie chairs/sofa. The place sure needs more seating mats.
