Big Thumb for Little Rae

posted by constance

My girl had some blister on her thumb recently. She said it was itchy and it looked like it had water. I punctured it with a small toothpick to release the water and applied some antiseptic liquid and put a small plaster over it. A few days later, her thumb looked a little swollen and didn’t get better. I then applied some cream that stated on the tube that it can be used for rashes, itch, skin condition. It was just a plain opaque cream like zit cream in a tube. The following day, I was shocked that her thumb was swollen, the skin was red and looked inflamed! That evening after work, I rushed her to the family doctor.. lucky the doc had a look at it and after seeing the tube I brought, he told me that was safe, except that it was too mild… He said she needed something fast to stop the inflamation and oral medication so she would not scratch it when it is itchy…phew. He prescribed her some Zyrtex, a stronger ointment that had the word antibiotic on it and a wash before applying it.

Thank God the following day her sore swollen thumb was back to normal… what a scare!
