It is the weekend and the girls couldn’t contain their joy when I told them we’d be going to the nearby outdoor gym this afternoon. We drove by recently and saw it being built and there was a small opening ceremony weeks ago. The weather today looked slightly gloomy but I brought them over anyway. It is only just two blocks away from home so just a short walk away. They had completed the outdoor workout area and there is also an large land where it had been cemented. I wondered if they were going to build anything on it later. I figured it could be a playing court or some sort but meantime, it is a large as a basketball court or maybe half the size of a football field. The community centre is only across the road so I do wonder if they will replicate a basketball court. When we got there, many young kids had been roller blading there, an advantage with its smooth ground. Good idea. And some kids even set up a little tent.
Overview of the Outdoor Gym and the weight lift equipment
Ski slide equipment, Rae on one of the leg workouts
Lea having fun on the kids’ section and Rae tries to do lifts.. ouch
Girls doing some jumps. The cemented area that has yet to be completed
There aren’t many ‘gym’ equipment but good enough for a short workout. There is the weight trainer where you lift the bars up while sitting on the seat. Each rooted down equipment can seat two on each side. There are 3 sets all together so 6 can train on it. 2 sets of it are the pull ups and 1 is for you to do lifts. Not bad, but I find these chest and arm trainers are a struggle. There are 2 sets of ski-like equipment too. You hold on and make ski-like movements with your leg. It works on your arms too. I like those. There are also 2 sets of smaller ski-like swings too but these time the handle bars are stagnant and you just place your arms on the bar as you slide walk. It was fun while I tried those stuff. There weren’t many people at that time. I wonder if there will be a queue in weeks.. Alongside these equipments, there are 4 little springy ride ons for kids too. Lea had fun with those while I exercised.
