Rae’s good friend invited her to a birthday party at the club during the long weekend of Vesak Day recently. This is the second of 3 parties she attended in that weekend. It was held at the same place where we also celebrated Rae’s birthday party last year, also at the treehouse above the swimming pool area.

This time her friend’s parents were wiser than us because they had a catering done instead of slaving over the hot charcoal bbq like we did for Rae. And her mom also had a party organiser to handle the kids’ entertainment, which was fabulous, with helium balloons, face painting, tattoos, games and a pinata at the end. The pictures speak a thousand words, so enjoy!

I was tickled pink when I saw Rae trying out one of those massage chairs in the club. She had been pestering me for the dollar coin to slot as she had watched me get my 15minutes of massage often. She said it wasn’t fair that I let my helper have a go whereas she couldn’t so for once to stop all Missy’s complaint, I finally allow her to try it out. I set the remote to the lightest mode for her once I pop in the coin. Her excitement soon got her to giggling in delight, in agony and feeling ticklish all at one go. She was laughing and going ouch ouch at the same time, even the kids that were around there came by to have a closer look. She certainly looked like she had an agony time but she said it was a nice experience and she wanted to have another go but I forbade… Look at the pictures I took of her.

During the long weekend of Vesak Day, my girls had several birthday parties to attend. As usual, I have to taxi them here and there. The more usual ones are of course the McDonald parties which I cannot count the number she has been and to the same location at King Albert Park since that is the area whereby is closest to schoolmates, home and all from her school. A snapshot I took of the party and her holding the birthday gift for her friend. They were both in the same class last year.

On Mother’s Day, besides going for Mother’s Day lunch last week, we went for the family’s favourite hangout. We were in Suntec City at the games/entertainment centre. We do get a kick out of those UFOs that grabs sweets and toys, (YES, YET AGAIN) and here I am, posting you our latest loot! I must admit, we are getting real good at playing these game by now. Now now, don’t scoff at me, ya.

When I was young, my parents taught me to start saving for a rainy day. The concept did not really sink in deep until when I started working or had just completed my studies. As a young child, it was really just going through the motion of going to the bank and watch your money in savings accounts grow as you add another number to your age. At work in my twenties, I enforced savings by opting for a fixed savings plan each month. Now that my girls are getting school allowance from me, I  am trying to instill this good habit of savings to my girls.

I love to browze in DIY shops online. I am not good in tools and workshops but the idea of building something is very interesting. I used to look at carpentry magazines in the bookstore before these mags are wrapped tightly to prevent browsing. I once tried to build a little tree top birdhouse using a plain hammer and some nails. Then I painted acrylic on it and did a polka dot pattern. Of course since I am not a trained builder, my little birdy treehouse came crashing down.  I must admit that I love the idea of using air tools to make grooves, cuts or scale and hammer. Someday I might just get a treehouse building plan and try again. Try browzing an online store for tools and discover the many different tools are available for building and construction.

Last Wednesday, Lea had the chance to join the nursery for an excursion trip. They went to the CBD area to a place called Genius R Us. This place does a lot of hands on activities like baking and simple cooking. Last week, they had the chance to make and decorate cookies. They started the day from 9am and back to school about afternoon. The each brought home some of the cookies they had moulded or cut out using cookie cutters and decorated.

When I picked Lea up, she had that look as if she had done something so important. hahaha. She had lots of fun with her friends. She wanted to go there again but I told her I’d get a simple recipe and bake that with her at home this school holidays.

Jo-N tagged me a Save the Environment tag and a link to sign up for a No Plastic Bags Pledge. Of course if I can do my part even in the pledge, I will. In Singapore, we have many occasions whereby BYOB (Bring Your Own Bags) are encouraged.

When I go shopping for groceries which mostly falls on Wednesday, this is the day where we have to pay for plastic bags. Many shoppers in Singapore have started accepting this method and most people can be seen carrying green bags when they shop.
