Kym Ng leading a Japan tour

posted by constance

kymng.JPG

I was reading the papers just now when I saw this advertisement by Chan Travels. Tomorrow Sunday, there is going to be a MONSTER FAIR. Well, it said tomorrow only. Anyways, what I was going to write was that they are now partnering their tours with a Mediacorp Artiste. It says so in the papers. So I went to the website to take a look. The information was quite vague, actually. For example – 7D Japan Grand Alpine Adventure with Mediacorp Artiste Kym Ng. I’m sure most would know who Kym Ng is in Singapore. Well, it stated “…with Kym Ng” I wonder if she is really leading the tour? I’m sure if she was there is going to be a big entourage of fans because she is really popular and she is a good compere.

The other mediacorps that have been linked to other tour spots are, Chen Han Wei whose name is used for its 6D Greatest of Shenzhen & Macau. If you idolize him then it will be a star gazing trip all the way to Macau and Shenzhen and back! But like I said, I am not sure if this is a trip stars are making. Perhaps the advertisement should be written in greater detail.

More mediacorp artiste – Quan Yi Feng, also another popular compere.  Radio 1003 DJ Jianwen & Ken – I don’t know these two since I’ve not listened to the chinese radio before. Oh the list gets more interesting! Dr Wong Lee Jeng from 95.8FM, Celebrity Suhaimi Yusof and Asmah Laili, Warna DJ Azlin Ali and also YES 93.3FM DJ Bukoh Mary.

I do know for sure that when you go to one of those cruises they have megastars entertaining you but how about these travels. Or maybe they feature these stars in their TV programmes to recommend you the popular spots and eats? Then these advertisement would be quite misleading.

Ruffles or Lays, Anytime

posted by constance

dsc00662.JPG

Have you ever found yourself staking out binging yourself like crazy? Well, that is about what I have been doing for the past week. I have started this binge on Ruffles or Lays’ chips and I think it is still going strong. I bought 2 packs about 2 weeks ago before the term holidays and waited till my girls were asleep before gorging myself on them. And few days ago, I bought another two packs of Ruffles.

It’s one of those unexplainable cravings that happens to me at one time or another. I remember months back I was absolutely crazy over Tau Sar Pneah ( I slowed down now) that it was a must have for tea. Now it’s chips and I think I also better be watching my weight and the overdose of salty stuff. I wanted to get the Salt and Vinegar badly but worried that it is too salty but what am I talking about, right? Contradicting myself, unhealthy to get Salt and Vinegar but getting 2 packs of chips! I have to kill myself to stop! Maybe I will drop by Marks and Spencer this weekend for their Salt and Vinegar Crisps! (saliva drooling just thinking about it). Who wants to join me ha?

Sony Ericsson G900 Looks Impressive

posted by constance

The two things that is on my agenda for my Wants List 2008 (not neccessary must have them one) are – Laptop and Mobile phone. Laptop because I am now blogging more than last year and my girls are now secretly (whispers to each other too) planning their moves to take over my pc soon. When that happens, I will have to emigrate to another one since the possibility of both girls harrassing Mummy on alternate few hours will be high. I am thinking of getting a laptop so I can work in aircond comfort when they are asleep upstairs and watch over them the same time.

So what about the Mobile phone. Well, my current one is set to be reaching it’s contract expiry soon.  And it makes sense to change a new one since my current one started showing signs of stress and grief when the LCD display died on me. Getting a new contract means I can trade in this one (if i want to) and get a new phone at a cheap rate. I see Singtel offering the SE K850i for $98 (with trade in of a $200-valued-mobile). If i do not wish to trade in my phone (cos i love its camera function) that means I pay $298 which is still reasonably cheap! Or just trade in my other Nokia for $60 off the $298 so I pay $238. I am sure Ah Boy is asking me to trade in my current SE phone which is still fetching $150 for now.

But do I want to get K850i now? I’ve just seen the new kid on the block.  Sony Ericsson G900 (to be released soon). It has everything I can think off. My mind’s really bleak now. Also Print quality 5mp Camera, Touchscreen with a stylus, Handwriting recognition, Symbian OS, WiFi support and weighs 99g only. It has almost everything I can possibly think of.

Positive Thinking Makes My Day

posted by constance

It has been a busy week and I seemed to have alot on my mind. Mostly money.. hahaha  No lah. that is only second. Mostly about my kids’ school and classes. Anyway, I took a little break in the past week doing less reviews (after all, my pagerank dropped and bla bla bla *grin*) and started to live again. I spent more time with Rae and her studies (which stressed me out somewhat) and started my shop-aholic mornings to the supermarkets again. It was very a therapeutic experience and gave me some ‘me’ time just shopping for grocery items which I totally enjoy. Of course that meant my helper started to ask for ‘kiu mia’ for that lack of space in my fridge and freezer again! LOL  She also had more time at home cleaning without the girls asking her to play play play all the time which I think disrupts her schedule which she had set for herself. And she couldn’t get to bed by 8.30pm evening because the girls slept later. Now that school is in, my girls got back to their 8.30pm bedtime and my helper can do her own letter/journal writing or her own stuff by then. Sometimes I let them watch TV for a while but they are usually tired before 9pm and would doze off.

So to end this little post, I’d like to share this little positive and meaningful cards with you.

Dogs Get Luxury Treatment

posted by constance

dog-bedding.JPG

I saw this one day while browzing in my favourite store – IKEA.  The furnitures in IKEA are not very long lasting, frankly but they suit the lifestyle of small apartments in Singapore. Most of occupants like to change furnitures every two years or so, and getting IKEA furnitures are a good choice. They are reasonable and can be assembled DIY or just pay a small percentage for the IKEA authorized personnels to do it. The furnitures are contemporary looking mostly although some may cost a little more than expected. The kids’ furniture looks very nice but those are expensive, probably due to its material and hardiness for kids.

I saw this range of furniture few months back and thought that animals are treated much better with their own line of furniture and beddings. Look at the pictures of these chairs for pets.

Apple or Asus

posted by constance

I have been a long faithful fan of the Apple. The area of work which I was in uses the Apple so wherever I went, the Apple Macintosh had always been available. My first purchase was also an Apple, at that time the LC 575. LC as in Low Cost. That was probably the only affordable computer I could afford and it cost me a whopping S$3k for an entry level Mac. That was in 92.  When I started work, my desktop in the office only had 8mb of RAM and it was already alot! My hard disk space had 40k. Years later when my boss added a server of 1 gb it was hell of a lot! Just imagine, our hard disk nowadays are so different from last time. It didn’t seem a long time ago… But technology did advance very fast.

Macs used the DIMM ram previously. My DIMM ram flutuates when the US dollar did. And there were no such thing as USB cables. We all relied on our SCSI cables which we could only buy from the Apple shops. Printers were limited as most of them were for the PCs. But Macintosh fans will always be Macintosh fans.

Today, I am using a PC. Not mine, actually. But it was the only available one which I could surf the internet and to blog. My other white elephants are now dormant but I have no heart to throw them away. They may cost only $20 bucks to the Karung Guni man but I’m not letting go. Too much sentimental value. They are my 8500, my G3 266 tower, and my trusty white iBook which I would use to do editing of pictures when necessary. I have no table space for these apples of my eye. What to do. I just stuff them under the staircase, covered with diaper napkins.

My intention now is to get myself a laptop. I would love to get an Apple. I have not made up my mind, though. After using the pc for the past 2 years, I may get a pc for it’s cheaper alternative. BUT I found a nemesis for the Apple.

asus2.jpgNemesis in terms of funk, design and being cool. Maybe there are more available in the market. But this ‘Nemesis’ is certainly ‘HOT’.  I love it. But the price is out of my rich. Do you like it? Asus U6E. Pretty thing. White Leather, beautiful texture!

Kids’ Size Gym Equipment

posted by constance

track.JPGdsc00600.JPGdsc00599.JPG

Whenever I go to a shop that sells gym equipment, I see many kids trying on the Treadmill, Steppers, Bikes and more. If the kids are not supervised, they might hurt themselves as these equipment sometimes operate on power. Visiting the OSIM store will also see kids riding on their iGallop horsey thing. I have one at home and my kids will ask to go on it every now and then. They like to show off to their friends too..lol

I was doing my shopping in NTUC on Saturday morning when I saw these exercise equipment meant for kids! It was the most cutest thing i’ve ever seen! Meant for kids from 4 to 8 years, they come in various forms like the Glider, Threadmill and also the Stationery Bike. If only I saw them few years earlier, I’d have gotten it for my elder girl. She is now 8 and dislikes sports, mostly. The only thing closest to it is her Ballet. If I were to get it now, it would seemed unfair since she won’t be able to use it except my younger girl who turns 4 this July. But that would promote sibling rivalry.

It would be helpful for parents who are fitness buffs and wants their childrean to exercise or develop the same habit as them.. but I think it is still better to get them outdoor to the playground for some unpredictable balancing, motorskills and coordination from the playground. But it will help for those who may need these for physical therapy for some kids.

I wondered if Pet Owners find the threadmill helpful? Penny for your thoughts!

My Kid In A Costume Tag

posted by constance

Geng tagged me this.  I thought it was a very unique tag and fun to do. As I received it on both blogs, I decided to do both with a different picture. Check the other blog here.

Here are the rules

My Kid In A Costume Tag

Look for a picture of your child/ren wearing any costumes. For example: a cartoon character, a character from a popular movie or program, animals, flowers, national/country costume, etc. Share with us a brief story behind the picture. Tell us where you got the costume and for how much. Pass it on to people you like.

dsc00019.JPG

Here are my girls in their Halloween Costumes taken in October, 2006. Rae was in K2 at that time and Lea was just starting nursery. The school had a Halloween Celebration and encourage all kids to put on Halloween costumes. We went to Toys R Us hunting for costumes and the girls’ weren’t comfortable with scary costumes so we got the mischievous little ‘devil’ sets for Lea and Rae. They love playing dress up. Sometimes they’d still dig into their chest of toys for costumes and their fairy wings for their own little sketches or play.

To show off their kid/s, I’d like to tag lovely moms Zoopslife, SAHM and Ling.

Painting Therapy

posted by constance

I rewarded my girls for a flexible session of painting therapy at Lollipop recently. The girls had not had a decent day outdoors as the weather had been wet for the best part of the holiday week.

I discovered this art enrichment for kids on my weekly rounds to the local grocers. They have programmes for as young as 18months and up to an infinite years as long as you fit into their little furniture for kids.. lol It was great that they allow flexi-class and the girls could have a session of painting together as they fall in different age groups. Yenn Ang, the Art Instructor cum Boss I spoke with, allows flexible sessions following their schedules if there are empty space for their creative expression. Weekends are much busier days so it is wiser to call up first.

dsc00555.JPGdsc00563.JPGdsc00567.JPGdsc00583.JPGdsc00589.JPGdsc00591.JPG

Lea expressed much enthusiasm to go back to Lollipop. She didn’t show signs of being anti social at all there and acted as if she knew the young ladies who guides them along sketching and painting. Rae also enjoyed her painting session very much and insists on doing a second painting before she even completed one. I had agreed to the girls that I’ll bring them there again as they were already making ‘bargains’ for more art sessions.
